I don't know about the MMRCG net but the Moose and Squirrel Net is an "on-patrol" and and Military Radios are optional. I have military radios but appreciate the idea portable operation on the M&S net. I can't haul out a military radio to the field and operate my FT-857 or "PRC" G90 depending on conditions. I've operated about 50 times portable this year on the net and only seldom hear portable military radios.

The most 60 meter on patrol operation I've heard this year was at Gilbert and two or three users were using G90's.

Good luck with the ">First USB >Second 2 to 12 MHz >Third 1 kHz steps"
Rule but keep in mind 40 meters was narrow band when I started 50 years ago and just results in fights between the USB and AM users. I wish some of the underutilized 8Mhz Marine Band channels were allocated to Hams.

Its true that a lot of the newer stuff will move in 100 Hz steps and do both USB/LSB but to exclude all the above would be to transition away from what the nets all about.

If you cant have fun in the field running the 47 you need to be in some other aspect of the hobby. Although I did do the "clarifier" option to give the ability to QSY up and down a bit I will not do the LSB modification because it changes the basic nature of what the radio is. If your going to run a PRC-47 you are doing it for the experience, the feel, a tribute to the technology of the period. If you convert it to LSB you are in attempt to build a Ham transceiver and that's what I am not about. The 47 can be used on sixty meters voice all day long, it can work forty and eighty meters CW just as well but if you want something just to go into the field and operate "Parks on the air " go and buy a G90
