Several NDB Stations are coming in pretty good here in Chickenland using
my Bendix 555 Navigator and its loop  antenna barefoot. I moved my
portable listening post  approx 30 yards away from my buried power line
and got a reduction of noise of 3 to 4  S units (4X6 =24 db). Its
amazing what a little distance will do to get away from the
interference.  Inverse-square law?
I have two types of garbage cans - Green for yard waste and black for
standard garbage.  The Green appears to provide the best reception.
