[MRCA] R-105/ARR-15 mod?

As I recall, the mode and calibration switches were broken out such that BFO, the audio cw filter, AVC, and calibrator were provided individual switches. I think there was also motor off/on. Wish I had the article still. If you look at an unmodified unit, you can see that some knobs are "missing". I also thing RF gain was made a non-recessed control.. maybe.

I am pretty sure Collins intended the ARR-15 to be channelized with the ART-13, but I have never seen an installation that took advantage of it. It works well!

I see photos of it in P5M, P2V, and a few other Navy heavies. Curious, the T.O. references the Navy and USAF. In the mid 60s, we got a bunch of them at the MARS station at Dover after a surplus run from Westover. Never saw one in USAF use.

Jeep-

I have that configuration as well at my QTH, set up for channelization using the ART-13 remote control.

Do you know what in what aircraft configuration the ARC-25 was used?

The mod, in general, appeared in 73 magazine in the 1960's. It is/was an unnecessary hack job, I believe. The ARR-15( ) can be used even with its very broad IF. An outboard Q-5er works quite well. There is an internal cw audio filter of some slight usefulness. The mod brought imbedded mode functions to the front panel. The only mod one would need to possibly do is attach fil and B+ to the dynamotor pins via a rear panel plug as the organic mating connector is unobtainium. The dual PTO design is interesting. My ART-13/dual ARR-15 (ARC-25) setup now in ops at W1NZR.

Hi all, I was browsing ebay and came across this ARR-15 and noticed someone ham-mered the front panel with a column of switches down the left side.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/166778324274

then I saw another one just like it, but better done!

I got to wondering, was this a common mod? Anyone know what it is for (maybe switching attenuation in/out?) or was this an official mod or something?

Thanks
