I could hear Ray and apparently he heard me because be retuned his PRC-74.
Another issue with 60 meters, and even 40 meters, during the day is QSB. In the first round Ray was R3 but in the second round he varied from R3 ro R5 because of the QSB. He did pretty well with 15 watts.
When working from home I have to use a radio which has excellent Noise Reduction or Noise Blanking algorithms, such as the Elecraft K3 or Kenwood TS-590. I found the NR and NB on the ICOM IC-7300 not effective; I have not tried the Yaesu FT-DX-10 or FT-710. Unfortunately mil sets like my RF-5000 are not effective in SSB with QRM. SDR software, such as SDR Console and SDR Sharp have excellent NR and NB algorithms and coule be used with these rigs.
