The mystery project consists of a Collins VMOtest jig and extension
cable for the T-195 transmitter. The jig is used for "Range'"adjustment
of the VMO.Construction details include mounting on a plywood base and
using "Knurled" nuts for easy mechanical adjustment. Extension cable
power connectors were easily located on ePay. Sadly I am running out of
Venier Dials that I purchased many years ago at Akihabara, made by Umeza
which if I remember made a nice copy of the S-38. Got a bunch of the
dials for sukoshi Yen. After working on several of the VMO plug in
modules it is in my opinion that the VMO module wiring is prone to
failure. All associated wiring and components are stuffed into a tiny
compartment underneath the chassis and can easily short out - doesn't
look like Collins put it together - perhaps a vendor. Thecoax cable
output connection is subject to breakage inside the small compartment.
Don't move the coax cable! But I made notes and also calibration end
point readings as the T.O does not contain any info.
See attached.
