I was a 2LT at a US Army Artillery Special Weapons Detachment in Greece 40 years ago during the time of Able Archer. Big thing I remember during that time other that KAL Flight 007 ( separate incident ) was that our signal section got into trouble. We had a Signals Sergeant who spoke fluent Russian. Radio Moscow was broadcasting its propaganda as usual between playing American Rock&Roll ( only reason anybody tuned in ). Well, our transmitter could blow Radio Moscow out of the water. Our enterprising Sergeant decided to take the opportunity to insult Premier Andropov’s mother, in Russian using our transmitter. Moscow was not amused.

Just a reminder that we will be getting together at Supply Depo X-Ray just outside Smyrna Delaware. All are invited to attend, with or without equipment because we will have radios on site but due to security reasons we do not want to publish the address directly on the internet but if you would like to attender and operate during the event send me a email directly and all details will be provided.
