[MRCA] minor point -Navy 5” guns

I was an innocent bystander, USAF by trade, so appreciate the info.  Glad I had the experience.... I guess I should look more things up in my Jane's.

Hi Jeep - 5"-54 became a standard in the USN some time after WWII.  Still in use these days.

Ships like the Leahy, a DLG (?) had some open 5" guns that were slightly different caliber.  Got to see a lot in Med and a UNITAS cruises.

The US Navy has (had) two types of 5” guns onboard ship - 5” 37 and 5” 54. I think the Iowas had 5” 37 ( second number I think is caliber. Has to do with a combination of shell size and barrel length ).
