Getting ready to do some testing on the IF, detector and audio stages of the R1155 that I am working on but ran into a strange issue. The last couple of R1155 receivers I saw all had the original or at least the somewhat original tubes, using tubes called VR100 that are the RF and IF amplifiers that I think are the same as the 6K7 and a couple VR101 triode dual diode tubes that appear to be a 6R7
The problem is someone has changed all the tubes in the radio to some weird tubes, in place of the VR100 IF/RF amplifiers they installed Osram KTW61 and 62 tubes, think they are the same but not certain and for the VR101 tubes it's a CV1101 tube with the other missing.
Figure I will have to come up with a VR101 or 6R7 but the question is what about the other tubes?
The person who owns the radio wants to use it for listening to AM Broadcast so got to have good working AVC with no distortion so the question is do I replace the Osram tubes with VR100 and the CV1101 with a VR101 or are the substitutions acceptable?
VR100 tubes are fairly common on eBay but the VR101 is more of an issue but figure it would cost at least $100 or so just to have all original bottles, will ask the owner but know that his interest is in the radio working and not what's on the inside as long as it's somewhat original.
