[MRCA] Crome Dome

Santa will be criss-crossing and navigating though several ADIZ's tomorrow.
Q.  There is a piece of essential gear in the photo that was carried by 
all  flyers that was invented by a German Craftsman. Can you find it? 
Hint: it is self powered.
       BTW navigating in the polar regions takes a little bit of skill  
- -  when over the North Pole the trick is finding the correct South to 
return to  Home Plate. Pick the wrong South and you wind up in Russia.
