Depends, if the ship still has the components of its original SA or SM family of radar systems that’s an important component being its one of the first generation of IFF transponders. But would assume that any of that first generation VHF radar equipment is long gone. Things like the land base SCR-270 were incredibly important and significant of what was to come but went way obsolete before the end of the war. That transponder is VHF and would not be compatible with any of the equipment in common use by the end of the war, have to wonder how it survived this long?

Basically IFF, Mark. It's listed as an Interrogator, connected to the ship's radar to light up and examine responses from aircraft in the area.

Anybody got any idea what this is and what it was used for:
Any help is appreciated. This came off APA USS Gage before she was scrapped, and is now in the CIC onboard DE USS Slater. We,re not sure it belongs there.
