[MRCA] ABA-1/SCR-515 question

I’m toying withe the idea of putting an ABA-1 IFF transponder together.  The original manual just arrived, and I started going through it. Listed in one of the diagrams, one of the items attached to the transceiver is a dingus called a “Howler”. Other than a breed of obnoxious monkey, I have no idea what a “Howler” is. Any help is appreciated.
