That site is just steeped in history, Battery 519 just down the road from where we do the AA83 stuff is the home of the Fort Miles Historic Association, they have their restored bunker along with fourteen-inch gun, plotting room and gift shop along with an artillery park that includes things like one of the sixteen-inch guns from the Missouri. Every April they do an annual "Delaware Goes to War" event and although it's a WW2 themed event we have a local group of military vehicle collectors and we set up right outside the perimeter with our newer vehicles. For the past several years have set up and operated M&S and MMRCG Nets at that event with the mutt.
You can see the mutt parked outside in the lot where we usually operate from during AA83 at the bottom of this web page:

Fort Miles was also home to Naval Radio Station Lewes which was a UHF tropo-scatter link to USS Wright and USS Northampton, the communications ships that took turns standing off the Atlantic coast serving as NECPA - National Emergency Command Post Afloat.
