I have a local tank owner who is putting together a radio that he actually wants to use in his SHERMAN TANK ( standard 24 volt electrical system ). Since there is a legality problem with the frequencies for the radio issued to that tank ( issued radio was an SCR-508), he is going to use that radio’s twin brother, the SCR-608. He has the mount, and the two receivers. He needs the transmitter ( BC-684 ). Anybody have one they are willing to part with? It’s going to a great home. He’s also looking for 3ea BC-606 interphone boxes. All help is appreciated.
When completed, his tank should be able to talk with the Jeeps we have equipped with the SCR-609 radio. We have two right now that operate on 29.6 MHz and 29.1 MHz ( and two more SCR-609 radios waiting to be worked on/installed in a vehicle). Sure could be one hell of a show at Gilbert.
And yes, he wants to become a HAM. He lives in Lloyd, NY ( Mid Hudson Valley near Newburgh ). He may be close enough to attend the Gilbert PA show with the tank. He’s even on the PA side of the Hudson.
