Folks,

Gene recommended this book;

I discovered it's available free on archive.org
<https://archive.org/details/MilitaryCommunicationsATestForTechnology>

Looks good. Maps and everything.  Not much coverage of tactical radios,
but the system stuff is interesting as I was involved in that.

Enjoy,
Al

Al:

     FYI.  I mentioned a book I recently acquired that describes many,
if not most, of the radios developed for the US Army from after WWII
through Vietnam up through 1969.  It's title is "Military Communications
- A Test For Technology - The US Army In Vietnam."
https://tinyurl.com/2528n87w .  It was written by John D. Bergen in
1985.  The book includes a chronology of the political and military
developments that led to the US involvement in southeast Asia as well as
descriptions of the various wide area, broadband analog microwave and
tropo systems that USA deployed to help the Vietnamese Army and
political leadership. Some of our favorite squad radios are included in
the discussion, such as the PRC-6, -8/9/10, -25 and the beloved
PRR9/PRT4 pair.
