[MRCA] [MMRCG] Looking for LS-7 speaker

Let me say first that I do not have either version of the LS-7 available for sale anymore.

There are or were actually two versions of the LS-7 made. The first was the LS-7 which was introduced shortly before WW-II, I think for use with the SCR-284 (BC-654). It had a stamped steel case and removable stamped steel cover with the 4” speaker mounted to the cover and the transformer mounted on the speaker. Transformer primary impedance was a nominal 7000 ohms. Input was via a 4’ cord terminated in a PL-55.

Second version that came out with the later AN/GRC-9’s was the LS-7-A. Differences are that it came in the same cast aluminum case as the more common LS-166 had. The transformer had a a square mounting hole pattern and was mounted to a bracket in the case. And later ones had the PJ-055B on the end of the cord.

Anyway, although it wouldn’t be wrong to use an LS-7 with a GRC-9, the majority would have had the LS-7-A, So either version could be used and be correct.

I am displaying a GRC-9 radio at the Gilbert meet and would like to find an LS-7 speaker to go with it. If anyone has one they could part with, please email me with details off list at dogfaces at comcast.net

Thanks, Paul WA3GFZ
