MRCA Meet Remote Comm Ops Schedule
The comm ops commences at 2:00 pm on Friday, Sept. 24. For most sites this would require leaving the West End Fairgrounds 30 or more minutes prior. The comm ops schedule suggests times and frequencies to organize our activity. Stations wishing to conduct additional or alternate communications please plan to avoid the scheduled time/frequency slots. To consider which remote site to operate from consult the MRCA website link:
http://www.mrca.ar88.net/FieldEx/FieldEx_Sites.html
In person specific site recommendation and directions will be available at the Howell building prior to deployment.
2:00 - 3:00 5357 kHz USB (5371.5 kHz alternate if QRM on primary)
It is likely this 60 meter activity segment will attract most of the comm ops participants. If necessary, a volunteer station with a prominent signal should act as a NCS to call up other stations and direct a net. Participating stations can introduce themselves and describe their equipment and their afternoon operating plans.
3:00 - 3:30 3885 khz AM (3875 kHz alternate)
This is an opportunity to fire up low power field sets and packset radios on AM.
3:30 - 4:00 3875 khz USB (3885 kHz alternate)
In this time slot you can do some comparisons between antenna polarization, height, slope, vertical center vs top loading, radial variations, long wire vs dipole, etc. or you can just enjoy your radio.
4:00 - 4:30 3570 CW (10 wpm or less)
Participating stations can pick up the simplified CW procedure handout for this comm ops at Howell building before deployment.
4:30 - 5:00 51 mHz FM
Let's see how many stations and area coverage we can put together. Bring mast mounted antennas for this net if you can.
Use 5357 kHz USB and 51 mHz FM as an intercom throughout the afternoon to coordinate with other stations.
