I used the Google Translate app from a tablet.  I do not use smartphone anymore (best thing I ever did was dump that addictive little piece of garbage) but I suspect the same functionality is available via a smartphone but not with a desktop/laptop.  You just open the app, select "camera", a little pop-up window will appear which you align with the text you want translated and google does all the heavy lifting from there.
 I am going to try and join the Moose and Squirrel net today with this radio.

If you can get into menu mode and identify the Arabic word for "language" you may be able to find english as an option Like on multi-lingual TV sets. Hopefully the option is in the language to be selected!
