The 13 oz. Elecraft KX2 12 watt all-mode 80m to 10m radio was introduced in 2016. It has sold about 5000 units, including a significant but undisclosed number (with the MARS general-coverage transmit firmware) to U.S. Army Special Forces for Afghanistan service. The set includes (optionally) an internal wide-range ATU and lithium ion battery pack. The standard firmware includes RTTY AFSK, PSK, and Morse decode and transmission, using an Morse paddle as the input device.

That's the way to take very sophisticated radio not only to a camp site, but also in a backpack out on the trails.

Greetings from high atop Mount Philo, VT. Packed everything one could need for a fun expedition in the land rover... except a radio :(. That one smarts. There's always next time!
