I saw your post for the R-392 clutch assembly issue....a friend of mine, WF4R is a exert on the R-390 so I passed your email to him to see if he could give you any pointers. His attached email is below.

Sorry I'm not very familiar with the R-392.I would have to guess that the clutch mechanism needs to be cleaned. If it's like the R-390A the zeroing knob pushes three pins in to disengage the clutch, which allows the dial counter to turn without changing the tune mechanism. From the day I purchased this radio, the dial zero mech was messed up or missing parts or who knows what!It was dragging on the tuning system and does not properly operate the clutch. I inverted the pressure plate to disable the thing
However , I would really like to be able to calibrate the dial!
The R-392 manual I have show what seems to be a push-in type mechanism which disengages the clutch.
The one I have is a different screw-in type. anybody have the detail for this type and/or replacement parts?
