[MRCA] Navy RBC headphone plug question

In the manual it calls for navy c-49434. It's not mono , but (like?) a stereo jack where the tip and ring carry the audio and the sleeve is just for shielding.
Does anyone have a spec on this plug? How does it differ, if at all, from a modern stereo plug?
