Nick, beautiful stuff. I saw a photo of your C-1004B/SG and I remembered about mine. Here is a photo of mine.

Much more professionally built than Nick’s. It resembles a stick of wood between my 28KSR and the 28ASR with a toggle switch mounted on it (hihi). While I haven’t been on the air much in a while, back in 2007 I was active doing some RTTY DX with this set up and a Central Electronics 100V which conveniently has a loop input. So the toggle switch operated PTT on the transmitter. And the transmitter managed to mute the receiver (51J4 at the time) and also handle the TR relay. It was a fun set up. Time to get back into rtty with all the fun people are having!
While I was digging through some old photos looking for my version of the C-1004B, I found this folder.

In 2015 Jack Hart K2TTY (SK) asked if I wanted to rent some tty equipment along with his for a pilot show called “Good Girls Revolt.” A newsroom series in the late 1960’s. I rented the KSR and ASR you see in those pictures to the production. Jack was hired as technical advisor and was on set managing the teletype machines. After the machines were returned, I learned that the series never made it past the pilot.
When I came across those pictures of the set, I said to myself, “heck, lets google it” I thought maybe there would be some wiki entry or something about it. And to my surprise, there was and I saw that, in fact, it ran for a whole season and it was on Amazon prime video. So I checked it out and watched (so far) only the first episode and sure ‘nuff. My teletypes can be see at around 38:30 into the first episode. I’ll be curious to see if they show up in other episodes too.
Both of my teletypes came from Jack when he was living in NY. My 28 ASR came several years after the KSR and Jack told me that that ASR was also in the movie “The Good Shepard” before I acquired it from him.
Glad to hear folks getting the diddles going.

Ray asked about paper tape - I was using an AN/UGC-6 (Teletype model 28ASR). It has a built-in tape punch and tape reader. There is a switch mode where I can type and punch tape, while at the same time the printer is printing an incoming message. So the printer can't print what I am typing onto the tape - thus I was typing blind to cut the tape. I had made up a few short tapes ahead of time - "back to net control", "KM4V and the net DE K4NYW", name/QTH/equipment (brag tape). Then while someone else was transmitting I could also cut a tape with a reply.
When it was my turn, I fed in the "KM4V DE K4NYW" tape, then the conversation tape, then maybe typed something additional (slowly) in real time, and then the "back to net control" tape.

I am really a novice at this - I have made only a few RATT contacts and this was the first net I'd ever heard. So I have a lot to learn and practice. But it was super-super fun. Thanks to all!
Cheers,

I want to know about the paper tape operation at K4NYW? Saw you respond with rapid response and comment about running paper tape at Navy East and would love to know how all that worked out? I would assume that there was at least a separate paper tape system apart from the model 28 and perhaps a loop switching network.
Got pictures?
