guus. reviewing the gre5 manual, there is a connector on the receiver that can be used for muting when used with a transmitter
a friend of mine was with an army antiaircraft battery and he said it was used as a warning receiver to provide alert of aircraft attack.
there are some radio equipment org charts that show the receiver set up with a command post rig - m37 with a vrc24 grr5 grc106 and vrc47

That said, there are a myraid of commercial, 100 watt class transmitters that would be operationally satisfactory (e.g.: Ranger, Challenger, WRL, etc.). ARC-5/274-N would work but not are not related. Maybe an ART-13 or a T-195/GRC-19? Any of these would make a strange combination, however. So, it comes down to simply select something and integrate them (muting, antenna xfer, etc.

I know this receiver was designed and issued as a stand alone and did not have a designated transmitter specifically paired to it. A local owner is asking this question (not me), and I don't really have an answer for this, other than maybe a BC-610, and that transmitter is way too large and rare for him to either find or use.
