[MRCA] Space X launch

I remember my parents talking about the “Russian spaceship” that was “circling the earth” in 1957. I also recall seeing what I now believe was Echo 1, the Mylar balloon that was orbited to serve as a passive reflector before any active relay bird had been orbited.

As far as the manned (excuse me, “crewed”) missions were concerned, I graduated from the 8th grade in early June 1965 and remember going home in the afternoon to listen to Ed White take a hike outside GT-4. (NASA no longer let crews name their Gemini spacecraft after Gus Grissom named his GT-3 capsule “Molly Brown.”)

I vaguely remember Gordo Cooper going up on the last Mercury flight. I think I was 4.

Hope everybody is watching the Space X launch from the Kennedy Space Flight Center right now. Reminds me of the Gemini launches when I was a kid.
