[MRCA] Friday Nite Mystery Project

Great to see work on the old PRC-6, going to assume that there are three generations of FM military radios. The first was the old WW2 SCR-300/BC-1000 and five hundred series FM radios that had about a 75 KHz deviation, the next generation of radios like the GRC-7, 8 and 9 The PRC-6 and the PRC-9 and 10 that were running around 30 to 40 KHz wide and the last generation of radios like the PRC-25/77, VRC-12 family and newer radios like the PRC-68 that I think are 25 KHz or so.

Personal experience has been that the older Korean War generation radios have little issue netting with newer Vietnam era radios, and some of the early WW2 radios can work with the Korean sets with little issue but almost all of the military radios don’t play well with the Ham 5 KHz stuff.

Somehow don’t regard this as a bad thing.

A lot of good guesses but no one IDed the purpose or radio.
The board is a break out board for the PRC-6 so you can work on the radio out of the banana shell. Photo below of the PRC-6 chassis on the left. PRC-10 bench supply with meter in the back. FYI Fair has the mini terminal strips
