Usually when you hear NOBODY it is a D-layer problem. You can't QSY away
from that.
80 was longer than usual at 0900Z today but by 0930 my usual gang of guys
in MA were loud. I work them every day without fail. If we absolutely had
to be able to maintain comms at 0900 we would need to be able to QSY to
160. Frequency agility is where it's at.
It is very common in the summer for conditions to suck midday no matter
where you are in the sunspot cycle. We are very close to the solstice, the
time of peak HF misery.
