I tried to join you guys, but Murphy got in the way! I have been just
doing RX so far, but when I went to do some TX FSK, I had some problems. I
decided to do true FSK on my Elecraft K3 (I've had some problems with audio
levels changing when running FT-8). Had to throw together a "RS-232" to
TTL converter to go from the ST-6 to the K3. Got that wired up (big search
for a 15 pin plug for K3 accy) and went to see how to program the K3 - but
K3t will only FSK with 170 Hz shift!!

Went to take AFSK audio out of ST-6, but it is a stereo jack, manual shows
RCA plug. What is extra connection for? Visually, it looked like it ran
down the the "Remote" jack?. Turned on my trusty TEK 453 scope and it went
"pop" and no trace. Took my DVM an checked for AC voltage - different
amounts of signal on the two stereo contacts. It was getting late Friday
night, so I quit.

This morning, I was able to copy Nick, N4NYW pretty well. The last two test
messages were solid. (Nick - how much power are you running?) K1HF was
strong also. Also printed K9WT, K3TZJ (Hi, Ron!), and a Salisbury, MD
station.

Got to fix my scope, then get AFSK working! But I'm traveling some this
week, so may not have it fixed by next Saturday.

73 & have fun,

Here's who I worked from NC today on 7087kc 850 shift military
radioteletype (RATT) -

90-100% K4HV (FL), K9WT (FL)
75-90% KM4V (TN), KA4RSZ (GA)
50-75% K3TZJ (PA)
either random garble or very briefly copied:
W6JVE (AR) - that's what the printing says...Jim was that you??

I believe there were doubles or triples today - I could tell it was RTTY
from listening, but my M28 wasn't making any sense of it. Probably KE3EKH
(MD), K4CHE (DE), K1HF (ME)
Last week I had 100% copy on KE3EKH and K4CHE.

Also, that freq has been almost always quiet, but today some of those whiny
computer noises were in my USB passband. Not getting through the M-S
filters, but affecting the receiver AGC.

We will try again next week

Great Fun exercising the machinery. Thanks!
