[MRCA] Info needed for upcoming Military FD.

A friend of mine wanted to know if a Yaesu FT-857 was ever used by the military? He would like to participate in the military FD as a MilCom radio user. I told him I would bet back to him after pinging the group. I seem to remember that Yaesu did have a commercial/military man-pack HF rig but I don't believe it was an 857.
