ok I gotcha. I think I've seen another version of this cable that converts cycles per second to Hertz.

That's the -B version of the cable. I have the -A version, and it's designed to convert AM to FM or vice versa. However, the user is cautioned to be sure that FM is to be fed from the BNC side.
