[MRCA] PRC-47

Shipping as well as packing. These are rugged but UPS can be tougher than
actual warfare on equipment.
I like the PRC-47 and one day when I have some time will get one. Ira Moser had
a couple at Dayton/Xenia without the accessories, but operational and on the
air, for IIRC $400. Don't know if they sold. If this one were known working,
with so many accessories, and in nice shape, who knows, maybe $500-600 or so?
Are you able to troubleshoot and repair such a rig? It may not run, even if it
did some years ago, due to anything from contacts to component failure.
I hear you about the bidding war aspect; it's the reason I almost never respond
to such postings.

Maybe these bias pots adjust how that cross over occurs? I would stick a scope on it and watch the sine wave to see if the pots can be used to improve the signal fidelity as it crosses over.

> Been working on getting everything together for MRCA/Gilbert and I have been working on getting my USCG AN/PRC-108 working with a whip antenna. That little back pack transceiver develops around tem watts of AM or 20 watts of SSB for operation on both 80 and 60 meters. I use this radio a lot for field operations. The radio has two outputs, one 50 Ohm output that works well with inverted V and stuff like that and provisions for a whip antenna attached to the radio. The 50 Ohm output connects to an input for the radios internal antenna tuner that has ten presets (one for each channel) and that connects to a seven foot vertical antenna attached to the side of the radio. I have been trying to get the antenna tuner set for the channels I have installed in the radio but in the process have done damage to the PA deck. Ok, so I repaired the PA deck and its working again but this is the question that I have. The PA deck has two stages with the first being a driver in push pull and the second being a power amplifier in push pull. Both stages have a bias pot that allows a small level of DC, maybe under 2 volts to ground depending on the setting of the pot to forward bias the amplifiers. I thought this may affect gain of the stages but apparently has almost no effect on the output, maybe a watt at the most. What are these bias pots for? How do I set them? Were they intended to set idle current for the amplifiers? Are they used for adjust linearity? Or distortion?
> This radio was built by Sunair back in the seventies for the USCG to operate on HF AM/SSB before VHF took over everything, at least in portable operation. All runs from one twelve volt gel cell and have been using it for a while now on the 60 Meter USB M&S Net and want to use it as a portable for 60 and 80 meters at Gilbert so that why I am doing all this damage to it to get it working with a whip.

We were wondering if anyone in your organization might have an interest in it.? We are not sure what it is worth but thought you might have some idea.? It has an antenna and a backpack chucked full of accessories(handsets, microphone, external speakers, power chords, antenna cables, etc.)? Visibly it is in excellent condition, however we know nothing about the operation other than the fellow who donated it to us said it worked great (don't they all ?)? As you can see there are a lot of accessories with it, which we do not want to sell separately, it should all go as one package.? Whatever you can do for us would be most greatly appreciated !!*
