Hi Francesco - The 618T (as the AN/ARC-94) was also installed on the PTF
boats operating in Vietnam as a replacement for the TCS on the very early
Nasty class PT boats. We still had the ARC-94 (and ARC-27 and VRC-46) on
those boats in post-war training work to support future NATO ops in
northern Europe. A pic of the PTF radio room with those sets here:

The ARC-94 worked well and was reliable, the ARC-27, not so much - they
beat the shock mounts to death regularly...We did not have an organic
repair capability in the unit but we had the P-3 unit at NAS Glenview
repair them for us as necessary..
We also had two URC-32's in our shore based comm center, very reliable.
