Jeff,
I didn't know much at all about Victor Coliguori, but the name rang a
bell, and I took a look at a presentation I did at InfoAge in 2011 on
"Signal Corps Information Technologyduring World War II." Victor, a
civilian working for the Signal Corps, hit the beach at Omaha late on
D-day, and by about D+4 had a multiplexed ANTRACK link running back to
England. Among other things it was used to move aerial recon. photos
back to Normandy from the airfield at Middle Wallop (only in the UK :-))
via FAX.
Pages from the "Green Books" attached. Quite an adventure.
BTW, the "Green Books" are on the web:
https://history.army.mil/html/books/010/10-18/index.html They and be
tedious reading, but contain a lot of information.
73,
Al
