The type of Coax needed is RG-11, not RG-8

Here's a tidbit of news about the terminal boxes used on the BC-659 radio to allow for coaxial cable use. The terminal boxes don't provide for an antenna match for the whip antenna. You have to use about 10 feet RG8 coax ( about a half wave length) to allow the Terminal Box TM-218 to be used. You need this length to get the antenna feed line impedance close enough to 50 Ohms to allow the radio to be tuned. Using a 50 ohm dummy load also won't work, because their is no matching transformer on the radio itself, only a changeover strap. Antenna tuning, therefore has to be done after final installation on any vehicle if using a TM-218 terminal box with the BC-659.
