You will have to remove and discard the outer shields to grease the
bearings. Better yet, replace them with new ABEC bearings (your ears will
thank you). Removing the shields can be accomplished by poking a sharp
scribe through the wall of the shield, and levering it out. Don't try to
pry between the race and the shield, it is too easy to damage the bearing
race or cage.

folks
i am getting ready to put my art13 setup together with the dynamotor. this
one is not marked dy or dm rather just part no 502 D3COA. manufactured for
collins. the commutators look good. i would like to lube the bearings but
it is marked "note do not lubricate". when i took off the endplate and the
fiber seal the ball/rollers were not visible. is there anyway to get some
lube or even oil in there? even though its sealed could something from 70
years plus retain oil in the grease? it does spin ok just a little bit of
drag from the brushes
also as to the art13 are there any things i should replace beforehand like
caps ? i saw the info from mike hanz's site so i will grease and lube the
various parts of the autotune
thanks. jeff kg2bz
