Why hack a perfectly good 106 for LSB? That will just give you eighty and forty meters. Sixty meters and twenty and above are all USB. I have played around a lot with both twenty and seventeen meters and the fifteen foot whip works well up in those bands. It sucks on forty and epically on eighty. If you want to talk on forty Denis and his group hang out on forty USB using military radios but at the end of the day I figure that if I wanted to run a regular Ham QSO I would use one of my other transceivers that cover both sidebands.
Last but not least I have operated a GRC-106 that was modified for both side bands and the experience left a lot to be desired. To do it right you also have to look at the injection frequency issues.
But that’s just me and don’t let my feelings or thoughts affect what you want to do, I am by nature a bit of a 106 snob being that’s been one of my favorite toys for the last couple years now.
I will be bringing a complete GRC-106 out to Gilbert for the MRCA show along with all the maintenance cables , power supply and load and doing a care and feeding of that radio on Saturday along with showing the most common problems for anyone who is interested.
I just happen to have a LSB filter for the 106 and perhaps I can be talked out of it so we can see what happens in Gilbert.

Hey all
I've been searching for a LSB crystal filter for my GRC-106A. There was a run of them made by someone in Japan, but seem to be made from Unobtainium now. Does anybody have any idea where one of these may be.
Thanks & 73
