Something like this?
This my SCR-245 version, homebuilt wooden case designed to fit
in the back of my pickup. The case is intended to approximate, but
not duplicate, an official one.
Still a work in progress, the set has been on the air on the
workbench, but hasn't been fired up in this configuration. Still
need to mount a ceramic feed through insulator for the antenna
connection.
Of course, everything around here is a work in progress. I have
told my friends that if I ever decide to change my call, it would
have to be W4NFA, for "Never Finish Anything".
Speaking of the SCR-245. What's up with the rectifier tubes
in the vibrator power supply? What makes them so expensive,
do they have some sort of audiophile magic that drives the
price up? These are the VT-249, or CK1006. Other gas rectifiers
don't command the high prices these do.

PS #1. No, I am NOT going to change my call, I've had this
call for 50+ years, and can't bear the thought of changing it.
PS #2. The GP-7/RU-19/LM/DU next to the -245 is getting very near to
the top of the project list, time to finish it off also. Just a matter
of getting the 800 cycle power supplies going.
