The PE-237 makes a very distinctive buzz when activated.  Again, too loud at night.

The noise complaint was about the GN-45, not the PE-103.  The GN-45 is noticably noisier than the GN-58.  I can't comment on the original generator made for the SCR-694-C (GN-53 & GN-53-AW).  Although I have two of them, I've never run either one.  But they are probably about the same as the GN-45 as the main difference is output connector and output voltage.  The PE-103 (or at least the two that I used to run regularly) is pretty quiet as medium size dynamotors go.
