I think you'll be hearing about such an effort in the midwest before
long, so your description of net operations is appreciated by those of
us who can't hear it.  If anyone might be willing to record the net
audio some day,  it would be fun to hear.  Or maybe I can find a web
radio in your area.

One question that I'll admit has become a pet peeve is the JT-65 digital
activity on channel 3.   Maybe some users of that mode practice the ham
tradition of listening before transmitting, but not all do even though
they can see voice traffic on their waterfall displays.   Some online
discussions have become contentious, and none of us want to stir that
pot unnecessarily, but we really would like to use channel 3 for the
reason you stated, it being the only one some radios that tune in 1 Khz
steps are capable of.     I'd appreciate any thoughts on peaceful
coexistence, especially if we conducted net operations during a time of
day when propagation would favor the longer distances we'd want to try
to cover here in the less densely populated part of the country.

This concern may become moot once the new 60 meter regulations are
announced, since from what I've heard, 5357 will be in the center of a
new "VFO band", in which case we could have a choice of other even-KHz
frequencies (although with potential for more QRM).
