[MRCA] Chinese "LED" switching supplies

Well, I'm trolling for anecdotal information on the plethora of imported
"LED strip" power supplies, as seen on that "site". I am currently
using four of them, two 15 amps units and two 7 amp units. They do work
OK but the voltages are adjustable up to 12.9 volts on the 12v units and
about 25.7v on the 24 volt model. That stated, the voltage is
sufficient for everything. I do note that on VHF FM transceivers, at
12.9 volts, the power is down slightly from the full rated power. E.g.:
a 50 watt transceiver (normally operated at 13.5v and 50 watts out)
puts out 44 watts. Likewise, the ART-13 power drops from 120 watts to
113 watts with the reduced firmament voltage. Again, no big thing.
Spectrum output appears (doing an RE01/02 test and as it appears on an
HP 141T measured from 1-30 Mhz.) to be an issue, however. Grounding and
bonding the supply and adding a Corcom EMI filter to the a.c. input and
adding a .001uf, a .01uf, and 100uf on the output quiets things down to
where, with the exception of a maybe couple of out-of-band birdies, all
is acceptable. They've been in use here for a few months and nothing
untoward has occurred. Noticeable or unusual heat has not been
detected. Has anyone else had any experience, good or bad with these
things? Inquiring minds ask.... I may write something up regarding
these supplies. One cannot argue about prices!!!
