Pictures of the mutt project so far. Finished the installation of the new two power cables to the GRC-106 and the installation of the MX-7777 transient suppressor. The MX is located inside the accessory compartment right behind the battery compartment with its two red cables traveling between the + terminal of the battery and the distribution stud in the battery compartment. If you look at the MX you can see that I have removed the connectors from both sides and the back of the unit and installed direct connections in order to make it fit in its new location.
Not too happy about the connections to the + terminal of the battery but don't see a way around this at this time, maybe a second stud to tie the mutt distribution, slave connector and radio feed together with a cable from that to the battery?
In picture 84 you can see the steel shell that the 106 power cables travel thru, looks like maybe the worst place to install the lines but that's the mill spec installation using the proper cables and tray. In 85 you can see where all three power cables pass thru the existing knock outs into the accessory compartment. There were only three holes so imagine this will limit just how much can be installed at this time. What can't be seen is the connector I have from the VRC-12 base plate accessory to a cable that in turn feeds my URC-110 that usually just sits between the two front seats. Also you can see one of the two blank plates intended to keep stuff from getting into the holes where the side connectors were mounted on the MX. Don't know if it's because of the holes in the accessory compartment or because I tend to throw dirty stuff in there but that compartment tends to always be full of dust and road dirt. Wanted to try to keep that out of the MX switch.
