That new Green Bank Telescope is so cool. I took my son there last summer.
Multiple beam receivers impressed me as one of the coolest upgrades from
when I was a summer student there in the 80s.

Back then they didn't have all the computers locked up in a shielded room,
and staff used to operate on the premises with medium power. I hooked up a
TS-530 transceiver to the Karl Jansky antenna replica and not only recorded
bursts from Jupiter, but worked DX on 15 meters. Now you are not even
allowed to use a digital camera close to the telescopes.

The big interference fight then was oscillating TV antenna amplifiers. Now
it is wireless modems.
