Al, maybe you and Breck will remember a trip over one of the hills at A Gilbert meet a while ago where we took a PRC 74B over one of the hills and into a valley and had two guys walk out a 60 meter hallf wave dipole holding it over theri heads. We contacted W3PWW back att the Gilbert site and a guy some 250 miles away also checked in.

I used this set up and also a sloper with an equil lenth couinterpoise unrolled for 1/4 wave lenth for 60 meters with great results some 48 years ago for como from Laos back to The 7th RRFS located at Udorn, Thailand for two years with great success on 60 meters using a PRC 74B and a GRA 71 Keyer. I recerived my "R" on every evening transmission made. All freqs we used were in the 5 meg range. Distance usually around 75 to 200 miles depending on our AOO.
