On April 29, a Saturday I am planning on setting up the self-propelled AN/GRC-106 AKA M151A1 or "mutt" at Cape Henlopen State Park in Delaware. Intend to do the usual M&S Net operation from that location at noon but was wondering if there was any interest in running an additional Net before or after in cooperation with the Fort Milles Museum Open House event and maybe doing something like getting one or two other coastal defense facilities up and on the air? Battery 519 once controlled Battery 223 over in Cap May NJ, maybe we can establish a communications link to that battery? Or something like Fort Mott on the Delaware Bay or some location more distant?
For shooting just across the bay I can do a good 51.0 FM simplex with the VRC-12 and the log periodic, anything further away can be done over HF simplex maybe using 60 meters being will already be up there or perhaps twenty or seventeen meters being they are easy to work with the 106. Can do forty or eighty meters but limited to USB only.
If there is any interest in playing around with this sort of idea maybe next year we can plan for a full size event but this year just wanted to see if we can throw something together at the last minute. The mind only wonders at the thought of countless ways of wasting time and resources! Maybe setting up an AN/TRC-1 system between Delaware and NJ and running multipole telephone channels? We can tie the world of field wire and radio together, 6think of the possibilities not to mention actually using the TRC stuff for its intend function.
You can see the web page for their event at:

Although this is primarily a WW2 them event think this year they are allowing people like me to be set up on the side. Others who are expert at WW2 vintage like K4CHE will be closer to the center of activates with their equipment. I am more a "Cold War" person but try to take any opportunity to take the mutt out and play with it.
