[MRCA] Gilbert Broadband VHF Antenna Purchase - Slightly OT

When I was 12 years old, I got my first fishing rod. It was a Shakespeare and I promptly took it down to Captree and caught myself a fish. I still have it and it still catches fish. Who knew that all these years later I would have matching antennas.
Now if I could only figure out to to fish and do radio at the same time...

Several of us purchased the VHF "broadband" antennas at Gilbert. I got mine for $15 bucks because the data plate was scratched and the plastic tip was missing. ;-)
I am not a big fan of SWR but a quick check across two meters (144-148) resulted in a low 1.4-1.7 SWR with 10 feet of RG-58 feed line and then tuning my analyzer lower in frequency the antenna is usable for my purposes on UNICOM. Tuning higher in frequency to 225 Mcs still got a fairly low SWR. I guess I will have to do one of those graphs and also see the effect of feedline length.
On the two meter frequency of 145 Mcs even a 1.7 SWR would not result in that much of a feed line loss and my Older GE MVP APRS transmitter probably would not care.
My antenna data plate was scratched and the lower frequency I assume is 116 or 126 or 136?? Measuring a total length of around 36 inches it looks like a end fed half wave which would not require a large ground area. But I do smell a internal "voltage" balun of which I am not very fond of. But there is "no free lunch" :-\ See attach photos (2) of antenna and data plate.
Anyone else have any info? Any research? Z
