[MRCA] 1619 tube query

This tube is/was used in the old tank radio sets.  I have been under the 
impression all these years that the tube was a metal 6L6 (6V6?) with a 
different filament rating. Can someone clarify this for me?  I'm 
converting the tank interphone amp and need to confirm the folklore.
