W3LP, the East Penn Amateur Radio Club will be operating from the field this Saturday as part of their annual "Operation Able Archer 83" with the special call W3A for the day of the event. For no particular good reason other than because I can I have decided that I will go out into the field and operate as an ad hoc field Cemetery Net ECCCS station running the M151 with the VRC-43, GRC-106 and maybe a couple other radios thrown in too. For this event I will be dragging everything out to a remote location on top a mountain in Port Clinton and attempting to establish a VHF "push" on 51.0 along with a HF link back to the W3A base in Pottstown, a distance of around thirty five miles from where I will be located. Also intend to participate in the M&S Net at twelve hundred hours local and want to try to get some calls in on the 20, 18, 15 and 10 meters bands. I will have a good antenna set up for 60 meters and a radio set to 5357 USB as a calling channel but only anticipate using the seventeen foot whip on the mutt for the rest of the operation. I will also have the low band log periodic set up for 51.0 and at an elevation of around one thousand feet this may be an opportunity to try to do a longer path with 51.0?
