Hi Breck!  Very nice Field Day setup - that is one big 'Chute!  A couple of
us also deployed in CA that weekend, our AAR report forwarded, FYI
Good fun - one of these days we will have to make comms via radio with our
East Coast cousins!

Although the ARRL Field Day happened on the same weekend, the West Coast
Military Radio Collectors Group Detachment Alpha (FWD) held our own 4 day
deployment at the same timeframe.
We were up in the Sierras and checked into the MRCG AM net on 3985 with the
PRC-174 and had numerous CW contacts with the TRC-77 from our CW position.
We also ran range tests with the PRC-25 / PRC-6 and VRC-7 mounted in the
vehicle (1.75 miles with the PRC-6 across dense forest/ mountain terrain).
It fared better than the BC-611/PRC-174 rangewise...

Antennas were NVIS dipoles for 80/60/40.  Good comms on 5357 and 3550 with
Andy as usual.

Weather and chow was great at this very remote campsite at 8000 feet.  Pine
Needle Tea and bacon&tomato sammitches for breakfast.

Thanks to all you guys for checking in with us on the Net.  Good signals,
we were getting out well with 5 Watts of AM, being that close to the
ionosphere...low noise too, being 15 miles from the nearest paved road...
