[MRCA] A War Story

[Al Klase]

Gang,

I had a militry vehicle conversation with The Phantom of Smyrna 
yesterday, started putting this email together, and decide i should share.*

**Cam Ranh Bay, early 1971*

I was so short, I could sit on the edge of a piece pf paper and dangle 
my fee.

Then I left a dufus Sargent First Class drive "my" jeep when we went 
down to the Cam Ranh airbase on some errand.  I though he knew where he 
was going, and when I said TURN HERE at the last second, he got us rear 
ended by a bus.  The 151 did a slow roll.  I was the quintessential 
short-time nightmare, I'm supposed to be out of the Army in a week and a 
half.  The silly roof bars held it up.  We got away with minor scrapes.

The motor pool hammered the thing straight, smeared grease on the lights 
and instruments, and brush painted the thing.  However, someone decided 
that Klase should repaint the numbers.  I'm regretful to this day that I 
didn't make the bottom of the windshield say HEAD THREE (drug 
reference), which is what we all called it, but I wanted to go home.
