Thanks to a very generous member of the group, I was able to find the
later version of the ART-13 CFI unit, the 8Q-2. Recall that the -2
provides finer crystal checkpoints. Removing and replacing, I found
out, is not difficult but does require a step or two, The 8Q-2 CFI is a
bit longer than the -1. The hold-down screw pattern is, however, the
same. The chassis-level wire bundle going to/from the CFI unit on the
-1 unit enters from the rear-side of the CFI. The longer -2 wiring
enter from the front. Hence. the cable bundle clamp underneath the CFI
must be removed and the wire bundle formed such that it can bend and
enter from the front. The old grommet can be relocated. My new CFI
unit works fine. I did, however, introduce a problem manifested by no
grid drive. After a short period of consternation, I discovered quite
by accident that one of the driver tubes was apparently not in the
locked down position and when removing the module, etc. the tube was
pulled up a mm or so. Re-seating and locking the tube cleared the
problem. Just saying....
