[MRCA] Cleaning Query

Gentlemen,

I acquired an ARR-15 HF receiver, recently. It came from a dealer in
the vicinity of the famous Bone-yard. That is, out there where the old
military aircraft are stored and cut up. Anyway, this radio came out of
a P-2V and has been stored a very long time. There is a coating
(dusting?) of exceptionally fine southwestern desert dirt throughout the
radio. It comes off quite easily with paper towels, Q-tips, 409, and
such. Below is bright metal, with little or no evidence of corrosion of
any kind. The front panel is gone, marking-wise. I can re-paint and
dry-transfer new markings OK. The slight panel dents and deformations
can the re-shaped, as necessary, with a set of milled IBM heavy metal
blocks. My question is, then, what's the best way to clean the
dust/dirt out of this thing without damaging the typical Collins movable
coil racks and such? High-pressure air will probably take some of it
off but..... the dirt has permeated the radio pretty well.
Fortunately, there are covers over many of the critical areas but the
wind, I assume, eventually gets the dust into everything. The thing is,
I've never had to wholesale clean a unit this dirty before.. just lucky,
I guess?
