Folks,

A discussion on another group caused me to photograph the Signal Corps
AR-11 in the Radio Technology Museum. This radio is described as a
"Compact Transceiver for Covert Action." The design morphed into the
AN/PRC-5 by widening the front panel, and bringing the plug-in antenna
coil out from inside the case.

See: http://www.skywaves.ar88.net/SPY/AR-11/AR-11.html

Do we know anything about the application of these sets? Seems to be
Army Intelligence rather than OSS.

From reading the schematic, it looks like a poor excuse for a CW
receiver. There is a BFO, but no RF gain control. I'm sure the AVC
will desense the receiver when the BFO is turned on.

Page includes a reasonable scanned copy of the AN/PRC-5 TM.
